Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the CarbCheck app and website (“the Service”). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Not medical advice. CarbCheck is an informational tool to help you estimate and track carbohydrates. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical, nutritional or dietary advice, diagnosis or treatment. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making decisions about your diet, medication (including insulin dosing) or health. Never rely on the app for decisions that could affect your health.
1. Eligibility & accounts
You must be at least 16 years old to use CarbCheck. You are responsible for the information you provide, for keeping your login credentials secure, and for all activity under your account.
2. The Service
CarbCheck lets you scan or search products, view estimated carbohydrate values, log your intake, set a daily goal, compare products, and keep shopping lists, notes and favorites. Features may change, be added or removed over time.
3. Accuracy of data
Product and nutrition data comes from third-party sources (including Open Food Facts) and from automated estimates. It may be incomplete, outdated or inaccurate. Carbs-per-unit and per-100 values are estimates. Always verify against the product label before relying on a value. You can report an inaccuracy from within the app to help us improve.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
- Reverse engineer, scrape, overload, or interfere with the Service or its security;
- Attempt to access accounts or data that are not yours;
- Resell or commercially exploit the Service without our written permission.
5. Subscriptions & trial
Some features require a paid subscription. A free trial may be offered. Billing, renewal, cancellation and refunds are described in our Terms & Conditions, which form part of your agreement with us.
6. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, branding and content (excluding third-party data and your own content), is owned by CarbCheck and protected by law. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for your own non-commercial use. Open Food Facts data is provided under its own open licence.
7. Your content
You retain ownership of the logs, notes and lists you create. You grant us the limited rights needed to store, process and sync that content so the Service can function.
8. Availability
We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may suspend, restrict or discontinue parts of the Service at any time.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of data, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CarbCheck will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your reliance on carbohydrate estimates or other information in the app.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Norway, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the Norwegian courts, unless mandatory local law provides otherwise.
13. Changes
We may update these Terms. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
